Recently in Northern California, we experienced a 6.1 earthquake. I have experienced earthquakes in California (and even one on Long Island, NY), tornadoes in Illinois and Nebraska, and hurricanes, and would not wish any of these on anyone, but my two-part question this month is; (1) have you ever experienced any of these and (2) which do you think sounds more frightening?
In March 2014, led by the vision of Tuan Reynolds of Roanoke, VA, and others, the Reynolds side of the family started a Reynolds Family page on Facebook. Pictured left are the family patriarch (Tazwell Reynolds, born in 1862 in Franklin County, VA) and the matriarch (Mariah Guerrant Reynolds, born in in 1863 in Franklin County, VA). They were wed in 1885. They were born when Abraham Lincoln was U.S. president. Today their descendants are productive and nationwide. To the members and friends of the family, what has the experience now been like connecting or re-connecting with family on the Reynolds Family page (and beyond)? http://roanokerelatives.weebly.com/clarence-c-reynolds.html Think about a friend or relative who passed recently or in the last year or two or who just moved far away (or is very ill), did you get a chance to tell that person that you loved him or her? Or did you miss that chance? I hope you did not miss that chance. Please don't miss this or the next chance. Congratulations to the entire Hylton-Joyce family for keeping the family tradition alive in 2013. This year the family reunion took place in August in Charlotte, North Carolina. The next family reunion will be in 2015 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Pictured left are cousins; Shevonne Martin, Leartis Martin and Yazmin Price. More reunion photos will be posted shortly. This month's question: If you attended the reunion, what were one or two highlights? If you were not able to attend (KOH is guilty), do you plan to attend in 2015? Wishing all our friends and family much continued success now that they have earned their high school and college degrees in 2013. The journey is not over, but it must feel good today! Ethel (Ellie) Hylton (pictured left) -- Top graduating student at the top university in the world. Ellie graduated from Harvard in May, and won the prize for the graduating Harvard senior with the highest grade point average (GPA). She also graduated summa cum laude, Phi Betta Kappa, and won two important college prizes for her senior thesis. Ellie's parents, Keith N. Hylton and Maria O'Brien Hylton, both law professors at Boston University, are also Harvard graduates. Ellie is also the niece of Soledad O'Brien, a Harvard graduate and CNN news personality. What is your family's last name (surname)? Did you know that there is an immediate way to find out how many people have your same last name in the country or world? Click the left circle or below link and then type in your last name. What will you now do with this new information? Please leave your comment(s) on this page. Thanks. http://family-names.findthedata.org/ Click here to listen to one of our four family conference calls that took place on Saturday, January 12, 2013. Click here.
